Remember the story of the saint who took 2 days before he advised a kid about the ill-effects of eating too mush sweets and when he was asked he said I couldn’t do it before because even I was addicted to the same habit.
Simple story and an even simple message don’t preach what you don’t practice but is it really true, With a complete army of consultants in the market today who will give you suggestions on any thing and everything and not to forget your well-wisher (?) who always have their point of view ready weather its your girlfriend or your job or your credit card payment, it is often difficult to know and follow what is really right for you.
So the next time somebody preaches to you follow these simple 3 steps to find out what is best for you:
1) WHIDI: find out why he is doing it; is it just the thrill to preach? Or is he a professional and may get some benefit if you follow him? It will help you decide on the credibility of the information.
2) Listen but don’t believe: pay attention to what the other person has to say but believe it only when you cross check the information and verify the facts.
3) Trust Yourself: You and only you can suggest the best when it comes to solution of your problem, so trust your instincts and follow your heart that’s the best way out.
And now before you follow these steps and discard my advice let me tell you I am not the only one to preach that if you have heard the song sunscreen you would know it already on what to do with advices this is how it goes
“Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.”
